Man arrested for abducting a girl waiting for school bus

A man was arrested for abducting a 12-year-old girl waiting for a school bus and touching her inappropriately inside his apartment in the Fairfax County section of Alexandria Thursday morning, police said.

The girl managed to break free and escaped to her bus, Fairfax County police said. School officials and police were notified immediately about the attack and began investigating.

The girl reported she was waiting for the bus inside the man’s apartment building in the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue when the man grabbed her and pulled her into his apartment sometime between 8 and 8:30 a.m., police said.

The victim later provided a description of the man, and police located him in his home. The man was identified as 22-year-old Walter Yomar Gomez-Lemus. He was charged with abduction with intent to defile and aggravated sexual battery.
