A man was arrested for drunk driving in Prince George’s County two times in the same night.
Maryland State Police said that they arrested Felix E. L. Mateo at 12:54 a.m. on Friday and soon released him to his wife. Just a few hours later, they saw him driving again, in a manner that suggested that he was still intoxicated.
Police arrested him for a second time and charged him with impaired driving again. Both times, police said, his blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit of .08.
Police saw him cross the center line of Route 193, hit curbs twice and swerve into another vehicle’s lane.
Maj. Greg Shipley initially said that Mateo was arrested in Montgomery, not Prince George’s.
Mateo was one of 80 drivers arrested by state police in Maryland over the weekend.
Another one of those drivers, Marco A. Bonilla, had his 9-year-old child in his car while he drove 94 mph in a 55 mph section of Interstate 95 in Prince George’s County on Saturday night, police said.
Shipley initially misstated the age of the child and the speed limit on the road where Bonilla was arrested.
Yet another drunk driver in the D.C. suburbs over the weekend sideswiped a state trooper’s police car — while the trooper was parked to make a drunk driving arrest.
