Man killed, another wounded in Anacostia shootings

One of two men shot in Anacostia on Monday night has died of his injuries, according to D.C. police. The shootings occurred about an hour and three blocks apart.

The victim was identified as Anthony Robinson, 26, of Southeast Washington.

Officer Anthony Clay, a police spokesman, said Robinson was shot about 10:45 p.m. and was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

The shooting occurred in the 1900 block of 17th Street SE, between Good Hope Road and Minnesota Avenue. Police said the victim had bee shot multiple times.

About 9:45 p.m., police said another man was shot in the 1500 block of U Street SE, three blocks away. Police said the victim was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital.

Police said they didn’t yet know if the two shootings were related.
