Man fatally shot in triple shooting in Southeast over weekend

D.C. police are investigating the shooting death of a 20-year-old man who was killed early Sunday in the Washington Highlands neighborhood of Southeast Washington, according to authorities.

Delano Phillips, of Southeast, died at an area hospital, according to police. Two other men were shot and wounded in the incident, p;olice said.

The shooting occurred about 12:30 a.m. in the 4200 block of 6th Street SE. Police have not released any other information.

Meanwhile, a man charged over the weekend with second-degree murder was ordered detained until a July 8 preliminary hearing in D.C. Superior Court.

Jeffery Bernard Noel, 21, of Northwest, was arrested shortly after a body was discovered on Friday in an attic of a rowhouse in the 1800 block of 8th Street NW, in Shaw. The victim was identified as Leon Young, 22, of Northwest.

Police said Noel was killed by blunt force trauma. The body was found about 11:30 a.m. Police said they arrested the suspect about 8:40 p.m. Friday in Southeast.

Authorities have not described a motive in the case.
