A man was found dead in a Falls Church area parking lot early Monday, and Fairfax County police are investigating his death as a possible homicide.
The man’s identity was not released pending notification of his family. The Virginia medical examiner was conducting an autopsy Monday to determine the cause and manner of his death, Fairfax Officer Bud Walker said.
The man was found shortly after 2 a.m. Monday in an apartment complex parking lot in the 6000 block of Bellview Drive, just off Leesburg Pike in the Culmore neighborhood. He had suffered “trauma to the upper body,” Walker said. He said police found the death suspicious because the injuries “did not appear to be self-inflicted or an accident and the nature of the injuries would suggest violence of some kind.”
No suspects were in custody Monday, but police did not believe there was a danger to the public. “It appears that this individual may have been targeted by people he knew,” Walker said, but he could not provide further details. If the man was slain, he would be the eighth homicide victim in Fairfax County this year.
