Man is found critically wounded in a BMW

A man was found shot and critically wounded in a car in Northeast Washington Thursday night, where authorities were called for the report of a vehicle accident, D.C. police said.

D.C. fire officials arrived at the 1500 block of Gallatin Street NE about 7:40 p.m. But instead of locating a traffic accident, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a BMW, said Officer Paul Metcalf, a police spokesman.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was breathing but unconscious. Authorities took him to a hospital in critical condition, Metcalf said.

As of late Thursday night, investigators had not confirmed where the victim was shot, Metcalf said.
