Man is shot in while sitting in day-care van

A man was shot in Prince George’s County Tuesday evening while he sat in a van operated by a day-care center, police said.

The man was grazed by at least one of several shots fired about 6:15 p.m. in the 4100 block of Shell Street in the Capitol Heights area.

No children were injured in the incident. No children were in the van at the time it occurred, said Officer Harry Bond, a spokesman for the county police.

The victim told officers that he was sitting in the van when a red vehicle pulled up and shots were fired from it.

One resident of the neighborhood where the incident occurred said two day-care centers are operated on the street. One of them uses the van to pick up children, the neighbor said.
