Man is fatally shot near park in NE D.C.

A man was fatally shot Thursday evening just outside of Marvin Gaye Park in Northeast Washington, D.C. police said.

Authorities found the man unconscious and unresponsive in the 600 block of Division Avenue, in the Deanwood neighborhood, just before 7 p.m., said Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokesman.

Police had no description of an assailant or assailants in the case.

In another shooting in Southeast late Thursday, D.C. police said that two men were shot in Southeast. Their wounds were described as not life threatening. The two were taken to a hospital.

Authorities believe the pair were shot near the intersection of 23rd and S streets SE, Metcalf said.
