Man killed after co-worker accidently backs into him with a dump truck, police say

A man working at a scrap metal yard in Prince George’s County died Thursday after a co-worker driving a dump truck backed into him, police said.

Officers were called to the recycling facility about 10 a.m., said Officer Harry Bond, a Prince George’s police spokesman.

Bond said the man who was driving the truck didn’t see his co-worker as he was backing up. The man who was hit was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

The incident appears to be an accident, police said.

Police have not released the victim’s name pending notification of his family, Bond said.
