Man killed in apparent hit-and-run in Prince George’s; several cars possibly involved

A pedestrian was found dead in Prince George’s County Friday night after he had apparently been struck by several automobiles, at least one of which did not stop, the county police said.

A preliminary investigation suggested that the last vehicle that “came into contact” with the man was operated by an off- duty county police officer, said Officer Harry Bond, a county police spokesman.

Bond said the off-duty officer remained on the scene and summoned help. He was in a marked cruiser, Bond said.

The incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. at Landover and Pine Brook Roads in the Landover area of the county, the police said.

The man who was struck died at the scene, police said. He was not identified, nor was the officer.

An autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death, Bond said.
