Man shot in Alexandria Sunday night near Braddock Road Metro station

A man was shot and wounded Sunday night near a Metro station in Alexandria, authorities said.

The victim was hit in the torso and taken to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, the Alexandria police said. The shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m. near N. Payne and Wythe Streets, the Alexandria police said.

The site is within three or four blocks of the Braddock Road metrorail station.

Details about the circumstances were not available immediately. But police said they appeared clearly different from those in the killing of music teacher Ruthanne Lodato by a man who knocked on her door.
