Montgomery County Police said Thursday they are investigating a shooting that involved a robbery at an apartment in the White Oak area.
The incident began Wednesday night just before midnight when police received a “call for the sound of shots being fired” in the 11500 block of February Circle, according to Rebecca Innocenti, a Montgomery County Police spokeswoman.
When police arrived at the apartment complex, they found a man who said he had been shot and jumped out of a third-story window. He had injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported to an area hospital.
Police said people in the apartment told them that several intruders forced their way inside. With a description of the suspects and the vehicle they were driving, police were able to find them near Colesville Road and Georgia Avenue.
When officers tried to stop the car, the driver did not immediately stop. When the driver did stop, several people fled from the car, police said.
Police located the people, and they are being “detained and questioned as to their involvement — if any — in the shooting and robbery,” Innocenti said.
They have not been charged at this time, she said.
