A man who was shot Wednesday afternoon in Northeast Washington’s Burrville neighborhood was reported to be unconscious and not breathing, according to a D.C. police spokesman.
Few details were released. Police said the shooting occurred about 3:10 p.m. in the 5800 block of Field Place NE, near Eastern and Nannie Helen Burroughs avenues. It’s also close to the border with Maryland.
Police did not have a description of the shooter. The police spokesman would not say whether the man died and was awaiting official word from the medical examiner’s office. Homicide detectives were investigating.
About 4 p.m., police responded to the 3900 block of South Capitol Street SE, near the Bellevue neighborhood, for another shooting. Police said a man was wounded and was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
No other details were released. The two shootings were about eight miles apart and not believed to be related.
