A Metro bus struck a highway guard rail Wednesday night on the Dulles Access Road and three passengers were taken to a hospital for check-ups, transit officials said.

The bus brushed against the rail near the Spring Road exit from the toll road at about 8:40 p.m., said Mike Tolbert, a Metro spokesman. Five people complained of minor injuries, but only three were taken to a hospital with injuries that were non-life threatening, Tolbert said.

The bus sustained only cosmetic damage, he added.
