Montgomery County man killed in confrontation

A 28-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday in a confrontation on a Montgomery County street near his home, county police said.

Edwin Alexander Campos Hernandez was found fatally wounded about 3 a.m. in the 3700 block of Bel Pre Road, where he lived, the police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died of his wounds.

Preliminary investigation indicated that two people approached Hernandez on the street. An exchange of words occurred and Hernandez was shot, police said. The incident remained under investigation Sunday evening, according to police, and additional details were not released.

The site is in the Aspen Hill area, between Connecticut and Georgia Avenues, eight or nine miles north of the Capital Beltway.

In another development, county police have identified the man found fatally shot the night of Dec. 10 on Castle Boulevard in the Briggs-Chaney area. They said he was Christopher Davon White, 22, of Dodge Park Road in Landover.

Police asked those with information in either case to call them.
