A school bus and a car collided in Montgomery County on Wednesday afternoon, and nearly 20 students were put on an ambulance bus that took them to Children’s National Medical Center in the District, officials said.
The injuries were reported to be minor and non-life threatening, said Battalion Fire Chief Dee Howard Richards.
The collision occurred in the area of Seven Locks and River roads, officials said. One adult also received minor injuries.
The students are fifth graders from Beers Elementary School in the District and had been on a trip to the German American School as part of the Embassy Adoption Program, D.C. schools spokeswoman Melissa Salmanowitz said. She said the students were taken to the hospital “for observation and possible treatment of minor injuries.”
