No charges filed in fatal Wednesday morning shooting

No charges will be filed against a Northeast D.C. man who was involved in a fatal shooting in Trinidad on Wednesday morning.

Police arrested Kenneth Brown, 45, Wednesday and initially charged him with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Thomas Terrell Jamison, 35, of Southeast.

Around 7:30 a.m., District police responded to reports of shots fired in the 1200 block of Raum St. NE, where they came upon Jamison, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Detectives shortly thereafter found Brown with a gun shot wound. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. After his release, police arrested him.

Upon further investigation, police said Thursday, Brown may have been acting in self defense, so no charges will be filed. The case remains under investigation.
