One person injured in D.C. shooting, victim found inside car on BW Parkway

D.C. police are investigating an incident in which a man shot in Southwest was found early Saturday morning inside a vehicle stopped in Maryland on the Baltimore Washington Parkway.

D.C. police spokesman Officer Hugh Carew said the adult male victim, who has not been identified, suffered at least one gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital. His condition was not known, he said.

The victim was found at 3:11 a.m. inside a vehicle stopped in the northbound lanes of the parkway just south of Laurel-Bowie Road, or Maryland Route 197.

Carew said they believe the victim had been shot earlier in the unit block of I Street SW.

No arrest has been made in connection with the incident.

Police said it was unclear if there was anyone else inside the vehicle with the victim.

U.S. Park Police assisted with the incident on the parkway, said agency spokeswoman Sgt. Lelani Woods.
