Police investigate death near Howard University, but no crime is suspected

D.C. police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Thursday morning near a running track across the street from the Howard University campus, according to authorities.

Police were called to the 2300 block of Ninth Street NW, a block off Georgia Avenue, about 6:30 a.m. Officials said the body was found in a grassy area near a running track close to the Banneker Recreation Center and across from an off-campus university apartment building.

District police said it appears the man died of natural causes, but the cause of death will be determined after an autopsy from the medical examiner’s office.

The man has not yet been identified.
