Police investigate death of woman who was found in Falls Church area home

Fairfax County police are investigating the death of a woman in her 20s, who was found inside a Falls Church area home Wednesday morning, officials said.

Authorities were called to check on the welfare of a person in the 6900 block of Westmoreland Road about 9:30 a.m., officials said in a statement. No one answered the door when officers knocked and they found nothing out of the ordinary until they returned later in the day with a homeowner, and entered the residence.

They then found the woman dead inside, and investigators said the body sustained trauma. However, police did not describe the trauma or identify the woman.

Officials are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. Police said multiple people lived in the home and the woman rented one of the rooms.

Authorities are also searching for a 2004 gold Mercedes four-door sedan which police said is missing from the home and may be related to the death. Officials said the sedan has Virginia license plate WVF-8414.

Anyone with information is asked to call Fairfax County police at 1-866-411-TIPS.
