Police investigate two shootings in Southeast D.C.

Police in the District are investigating two shootings in Southeast.

One of the incidents occurred just before 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of 53rd Street SE. Police said a man was shot in the back and transported to an area hospital.

The other happened early Wednesday morning in the 100 block of Ridge Road SE. In that case, police are looking for a dark, old model sedan, according to a tweet from the department. The victim in that incident was shot in the buttocks and taken to a local hospital.

The injuries are considered non-life threatening and the shootings are not believed to be related, according to police.
