D.C. police looking for suspect in sexual assault of transgender woman

D.C police are again investigating violence against a transgender woman, this time the case of a woman who was reportedly sexually assaulted early Saturday, authorities said Sunday.

At about 1 a.m. Saturday, a transgender woman accepted a ride from a man she didn’t know, police said. After getting into his gold, four-door Lexus, the man took her to an alley around the 1100 block of Atlas Court NE, and sexually assaulted her, authorities said. Police said the man had a gun.

Police are looking for a man suspected in the attack, authorities said.

Last week, police arrested two juveniles in connection with the robbery of a transgender woman, one of several robberies against transgender women reported in Northeast Washington. Investigators have said, however, that the attacks appear to be unrelated.

Police are asking anyone with information in this case to call 202-727-9099.
