Police: One man may have robbed 27 Subways

(Fairfax County police)

Fairfax County police believe a single man may have robbed 27 Subway sandwich shops across the region.

The most recent burglary occurred Monday about 2 a.m., when someone broke open the door to a Subway restaurant in the 8900 block of Burke Lake Road in the Burke area and made off with cash, police said. It was one of nine recent burglaries in Fairfax.

The description of the suspect is similar to a string of other burglaries in Alexandria and Montgomery and Howard counties that began in November 2013, police said.

The suspect is described as male of an unknown race. He was wearing a light-colored hoodie and dark pants.

A police spokeswoman said authorities have no indication why the man might be targeting Subway stores.
