Pr. George’s police name officers, suspects involved in Clinton shooting incident

Authorities on Monday identified the suspects and officers in a officer-involved shooting incident in Clinton on Saturday afternoon.

Prince George’s County Police Officers Garry Allen and Gregory Powell were responding to reports of a domestic dispute and break-in in the 8600 block of Temple Hill Road about 1 p.m. Saturday, police said, when they saw a man running from a house toward a car with another man inside. As the officers approached the car on foot, the vehicle hit Allen and sped off. Both officers fired their guns at the fleeing vehicle, police said.

Allen was sent to the hospital and later released. The four-year veteran of the department is recovering from a knee injury, authorities said. Allen and Powell are on routine administrative leave as the department investigates the case. Powell has been with the department for one year.

Police later found two men with gunshot wounds in two different hospitals.

Carlos Thomas Barksdale, 28, of Southeast Washington, and Darren Jones, 28, of Brandywine, are both charged with burglary and assault, authorities said. Barksdale is being held without bond, and Jones is awaiting extradition, police said.
