Pursuing gunman’s stray shot nearly hits sleeping child in Glen Burnie, Md.

A gunshot fired during a chase in Glen Burnie traveled several hundred feet Friday night before lodging in a wall just four feet above a sleeping 5-year-old, police said.

Anne Arundel County police said the incident started just before 10 p.m. when a 27-year-old man was approached by an armed man in the 7900 block of Gentle Breeze Court.

The 27-year-old ran and was chased by the gunman, who fired several shots, police said.

One bullet flew across the street and went through the front window of a home in the 400 block of Secluded Post Circle, coming to rest in the wall above the sleeping child, police said.

Witnesses reported hearing three or four shots before a two-tone Chevrolet Avalanche was seen leaving the area, police said.

Police are seeking information on the vehicle, which is black and gray and has chrome wheels.

The gunman was described as a black male in his mid-20s, thin, about 6 feet tall, with medium length dreadlocks and a blue bandanna on his head.
