Shooting leaves one dead, one injured in NE Washington

One man died and another man was injured from gunshot wounds early Sunday morning in Northeast Washington, according to D.C. police.

Police responded to reports of gunshots at 4:13 a.m. on the 1300 block of Saratoga Avenue NE, near Rhode Island Avenue. The two men were transported to a local hospital, where 24 year-old Michael Davis of Northeast was pronounced dead, said Officer Paul Metcalf, a police spokesman.

The other man, who was not identified, was treated for non-life threatening injuries, he said.

Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide. They are asking anyone with information about the crime to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or send an anonymous message to the department’s “text tip line” by text messaging 50411. The department offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of people involved in homicides within the District.
