Shots reported at movie theater; police saysomeone set off fireworks

Police arrived in force Saturday night at a major mall in Anne Arundel County after receiving a report of shots fired at a movie theater there.

No evidence was found of any gunfire at the Arundel Mills Mall, the county police said. Instead, they said, fireworks had been set off inside one of the theaters about 10:10 p.m.

“Out of an abundance of caution,” they said in a twitter message, officers arrived in force at the mall, in the Hanover area of the county .

Police said they evacuated the theater involved, which was occupied at the time.

Witnesses also said that many people rushed out on their own. Two people were reported injured, apparently as people left the area.
