Teen is fatally shot in daylight attack in SE D.C.

A 17-year-old Southwest Washington youth was fatally shot Thursday afternoon on a sidewalk in Southeast Washington in the ninth such fatal daylight attack in 2014, D.C. police said.

Officers were dispatched to investigate the report of a man down in the 4300 block of Halley Terrace SE about 5:15 p.m., said Officer Hugh Carew, a spokesman. Police found the male unconscious and not breathing, but medics performed CPR and took him to a hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

Officials did not identify the teenager and released no information about what led to the shooting.

The slaying was the 20th in the city this year.
