Two men who alternately passed themselves off as friends and as father and son have been charged with sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl whom one of the suspects met on the Internet, according to D.C. police and court records.
Orlando James Roberts, 45, a convicted sex offender in 2001, and Javon Rashawn Henson, 19, are each charged with first-degree child sex offense. Roberts lives in Northwest Washington; Henson lives in District Heights, in Prince George’s County.
Police said the assault was reported July 17 and occurred at Roberts’s home in the 3200 block of Park Place NW, in the Park View neighborhood north of Howard University’s campus. Police also said they do not know whether the two men are father and son but have records showing that they might be related.
The girl told police that she had met the younger suspect on the Internet through Instagram on July 12, and that they became friends. They visited several sights around the District, according to police. The following day, the girl told police that Henson and Roberts picked her up at her house in Laurel and drove to Roberts’s house in the District.
Police said the girl told detectives that both men sexually assaulted her in the basement.
On Wednesday, Roberts was ordered detained until an Aug. 5 preliminary hearing in D.C. Superior Court. Henson is being held in Prince George’s County pending extradition to the District.
