Two men rob bank near D.C. convention center

Two men robbed a downtown Washington bank near the convention center Friday afternoon, and a D.C. police spokesman said officers quickly caught one suspect holding money two blocks away.

Officer Araz Alali said the robbery occurred about 2 p.m. at the Independence Federal Savings Bank in the 1300 block of 9th St. NW., near Mount Vernon Square. He said two men demanded money but did not display any weapons.

Alali said officers arrested one man a few minutes later at 10th and O streets. The second man is being sought.
