Two women were sexually assaulted in the Bailey’s Crossroads area at the end of January, Fairfax County police said.

The most recent incident occurred Jan. 31 about 6 p.m., when a 28-year-old woman shopping at a Ross in the 5800 block of Crossroads Center was attacked by a man., police said. The man initially was friendly with her and spoke to her in Spanish, police said. As she was leaving the store, the man pulled up in a silver Mercedes and asked her to get in. Once she was inside, the man locked the doors and drove to a nearby location, where he sexually assaulted her, police said. The victim then escaped.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a dark jacket and white shirt. He wore glasses and had dark hair. Police said there may have been other people who were approached by the man.

In the second incident, a woman was assaulted on her way to a bus stop Jan. 29 about 6:30 a.m., police said. The woman heard footsteps behind her as she was walking in front of the Bob’s Furniture Store in the 5800 block of Leesburg Pike.

The man grabbed and assaulted her. The victim resisted, and she was able to flee.

The suspect was described as 5-feet-8-inches tall and thin. He wore a black mask, an orange jacket and a black hooded sweatshirt.
