Woman, 103, dies in car crash in McLean

A 103-year-old passenger was killed in a car crash Monday afternoon in McLean, Fairfax County police said .

Around 3 p.m., police said, an 81-year-old Falls Church woman was driving a 2001 Toyota Sienna northbound on Dolley Madison Boulevard. As she tried to turn right onto Old Dominion Drive at an intersection, she lost control of her van, police said. The van jumped the center median on Old Dominion Drive and hit an Audi and a Camry.

The driver and her 103-year-old passenger were taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital. The passenger, Katie Grosse, died at the hospital of her injuries. Both women were from McLean. The driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The drivers of the Audi and the Camry were not taken to the hospital, police said.
