Woman, 41, found dead in Springfield home

A 41-year-old woman was found fatally shot in her Springfield home Wednesday evening, and Fairfax County police have charged her husband with obstruction of justice.

Police said they responded to a report of shots fired at the home, in the 7100 block of Healy Drive, about 6 p.m. When they arrived, no one answered the door, but officers could see someone walking inside. Police tried to call the home several times, but no one answered.

Officers gained access to the home at 9 p.m. and found the body of Serena Hansken-Vierimaa. She had been shot in the upper body.

Her husband Aaron Vierimaa, 41, was found inside the home and was not injured. He was charged with obstruction of justice.

No further details were available.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 703-691-2131.
