Man arrested in fatal stabbing Saturday morning in Southeast D.C.

A Southeast man was arrested Saturday for fatally stabbing a woman earlier that morning in the 2500 block of Pomery Road SE, D.C. police said.

Officers were called to the block shortly after 2 a.m. There, they found 26-year-old India Chapple of Southeast, suffering from a stab wound. Chapple was then taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Later that morning, at approximately 10:45 a.m., homicide detectives arrested 30-year-old Tracy Mathis and charged him with second degree murder while armed in the stabbing death of Chapple.
