Woman struck by car, killed outside Marine Barracks in Southeast Washington

A woman was struck by a car and killed Thursday morning near the Marine Barracks complex on Capitol Hill, according to D.C. police and fire officials.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Timothy Wilson, a spokesman for the D.C. fire department. Her identity was not immediately released.

Officer Araz Alali, a D.C. police spokesman, said the accident occurred about 10:50 a.m. at 8th and I streets in Southeast Washington. He said the driver remained at the scene.

There no details of what led to the collision.
