Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in hit-and-run

A 21-year-old pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene in Springfield Sunday night, Fairfax County police said.

The woman was walking along the southbound side of Gambrill Road near Vogels Way shortly after 7:30 p.m. when she was hit from behind by an unidentified vehicle, police said. The driver did not stop to render aid.

The victim was later transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle that struck the woman. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411-8477.
