A Woodbridge man has been charged with murder for killing a neighbor in November, Prince William County police said.

James Willie Bethea, 47, of the 3400 block of Caledonia Circle, was arrested Thursday in connection with the slaying of 78-year-old Charlie Duncan Adkins, police said. Police found Adkins dead inside his Caledonia Circle home on Nov. 12, after a friend found the door to his home open and alerted authorities.

Adkins had sustained an injury to his upper body. Police said forensic evidence collected from the scene connected Bethea to the crime. Police said Bethea was an acquaintance of Adkins.

Police did not say how Adkins was injured or release a motive for the killing. Bethea is scheduled to appear in court on March 25.
