Looking for a pet-friendly home: H St. NE, 1300 block, Sept. 16. A Humane Society officer investigating a report found two pit bulls behind a business and met with an employee who said that the dogs were staying there temporarily while a co-worker finds a new home.
False report: Kenyon Rd. NW, 1300 block, Sept. 13. A Humane Society officer responding to a call about birds living in filth met with the owner of five healthy parrots living in clean areas.
Three very hot dogs: Constitution Ave. NW, 1600 block, Sept. 12. Three black Labradors were impounded after being left unattended for an extended period of time inside a parked vehicle with an internal temperature higher than 100 degrees.
Cat tonged: Bay St. SE, 1700 block, Sept. 17. An animal control officer rescued a kitten with Cat Tongs when it had gotten stuck in a three-foot hole under a bathtub.
Adoptable dog: N. Armistead St., 400 block, Aug. 5. A 1-year-old hound was taken to the shelter.
Moving on: College Park, Metzerott Rd., 3500 block, Sept. 12. A woman surrendered a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix to the league because she was moving to another state.
Lively dog: S St. SE, unit block, Sept. 14. A woman relinquished a 1-year-old Labrador mix to the league because she could no longer care for it.
