Slipped into a trap: 16th St. NE, 1200 block, March 19. Animal control officers removed a cat that was stuck behind a water heater in the basement of a residence.

Severed head: Highwood Ct. NW, 4000 block, March 18. The Humane Society is investigating a report about a severed goat head in a back yard.

Investigating a lead: Fort Dupont St. SE, 1500 block, March 16. Two cats abandoned by tenants of a home were rescued.

Cat surrendered: Pomeroy Rd. SE, 2500 block, March 15. An abandoned cat was removed from a townhouse.

A better home: 15th Pl. SE, 3200 block, March 18. A newborn kitten whose mother had refused to nurse was surrendered to the Humane Society.

Adoptable cat: Chillum Pl. NE, 5300 block, Dec. 3. A 3-year-old cat was surrendered.

Wounded leg: Newton Pl. NW, 400 block, March 13. A 3-year-old cat was taken to the league’s medical center because it had a cut on its leg.
