D.C. man killed in shooting near Edgewood Terrace complex

A 33-year-old District man was shot and killed early Saturday in the 600 block of Edgewood Street NE, outside apartment buildings in the sprawling Edgewood Terrace complex, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police say they responded to reports of gunshots at 2:09 a.m. Saturday and found Irving Jones Jr. of Northeast D.C. suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Jones was taken to a local hospital where police say he was pronounced dead later Saturday morning.
