D.C., Maryland and Virginia health code violations

These food establishments were closed because of health code violations. The list, compiled from health department reports, reflects actions taken by the departments.

THE DISTRICT

Chalin’s Restaurant

4250 Connecticut Ave. NW

Closed last Thursday for operating without hot water and gross unsanitary conditions, including vermin. Reopened the next day.

China Express Carryout

1602 Seventh St. NW

Closed March 26 because of a failure to minimize insects, rodents and other pests. Reopened the next day.

Haad Thai

1100 New York Ave. NW

Closed March 24 because of circumstances that might endanger public health. Reopened the next day.

McDonald’s

601 F St. NW

Closed March 24 because of a sewage backup. Reopened that day.

Naan and Beyond

1700 Pennsylvania Ave. NW

Closed March 25 for operating without hot water.

Shell Food Mart

4140 Georgia Ave. NW

Closed March 21 for operating without hot water. Reopened March 24.

Toki Underground

1309 Fifth St. NE

Closed March 17 for operating without a license and for gross unsanitary conditions, including vermin.

Urban Cafe

1225 I St. NW

Closed March 24 for operating without hot water.

MARYLAND

Fuddruckers

819 Ellsworth Dr., Silver Spring

Closed March 25 for operating without hot water. Reopened the next day.

VIRGINIA

Boru Asia Bistro

4121 Wilson Blvd., Arlington County

Closed March 25 for operating without a certified food manager, a roach infestation, improper labeling of food, improper food holding temperatures and general unsanitary conditions. Reopened last Thursday.

Manhattan Bagel

4201 Wilson Blvd., Arlington County

Closed March 25 for operating without hot water. Reopened that day.
