Calvary Women’s Shelter

Seeks money and food. Also needs volunteers for a variety of tasks.

Thrive D.C.


Needs lotions, deodorants and new socks, underwear, gloves and coats. Monetary donations can be mailed to 1525 Newton St. NW, Suite G1, Washington, D.C. 20010.



The group, Employment for Former Offenders Receiving Treatment Services, needs thermal underwear and coats for children 2 to 16, men’s sizes 32 to 48 and women’s sizes 7 to 22; socks, hats, caps, gloves and scarves for children 2 to 16 and for men and women; toys for children up to age 16; and personal hygiene products. Donations can be dropped off at 1416 North Capitol St. NW.

Food and Friends


Food and Friends provides home-delivered meals, groceries and nutrition counseling to people with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other illnesses. Volunteers are needed to deliver meals to residents.

Martha’s Table


Martha’s Table distributes meals to the District’s homeless and will be accepting donations of canned goods and other nonperishable items. Drop off donations at 2114 14th St. NW from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.



The group provides readiness training, placement services and two years of follow-up support for residents seeking to prepare themselves for jobs. It needs business attire, including shoes, for men and women. Monetary donations can be made online or taken to STRIVE D.C., 715 I St. NE, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
