In what is becoming one of the most expensive congressional races in the country, Democrat John Foust is hoping to up the ante with a fundraiser later this month that will headline Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe.

An invitation obtained by The Washington Post ask guests to join the governor at a private reception for between $250 and $2,600.

The Aug. 24 reception is scheduled to be held at the McLean home of Magsood Chaudry, a dentist in Falls Church who is among those who’ve helped the Fairfax County supervisor raise nearly $1.5 million in his bid for the 10th District seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.)

Virginia state Del. Barbara Comstock (R-Fairfax,) a protege of Wolf’s, has raised nearly $1.4 million in her campaign for the House seat, according to federal disclosure reports.

A McAuliffe spokesperson confirmed the governor plans to attend Foust’s fundraiser.

Chaudry also confirmed the event, saying: “People will come and chat with each other, and there will be food. If people want to donate, they will donate.”
