The Silver Spring Transit Center has had several construction cost overruns. Federal and state money was raised to help pay for an expanded design and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission kicked in $1 million to help relocate water and sewage pipes. The Montgomery County Council has now added $7.5 million, adjusting the total price tag to $119 million. Read related article.
