Growing numbers

The number of alleged forcible sex offenses reported to campus security or law enforcement for 2010-2012, and the rate of reporting per 1,000 students in 2012. The first five schools had the largest number of reports. The second five had the highest ratio of reports per 1,000 students in 2012.

Experts caution that a campus with a low reporting rate is not necessarily safer than one with a high rate, saying some colleges may make more of an effort to encourage victims to step forward. — Nick Anderson
