March for Our Lives: Stories from the crowd

Nick Kirkpatrick/The Washington Post

At the March for Our Lives on Saturday, the mass shooting generation told its stories. Survivors from Parkland, Fla., recounted the Valentine’s Day massacre that had spurred thousands to march on Pennsylvania Ave. Sandy Hook Elementary School alumni spoke of a childhood disrupted by bullets, then legislative inaction. Teens from Chicago and Los Angeles described a kind of normalized gun violence that steals lives daily.

The mass shooting generation’s stories didn’t stop on stage. Those in the crowd had them, too, tales of the way guns had touched their lives at work, school and home.
