Fairfax County is looking for a few good teachers.
The school system will host two job fairs in coming months to recruit new educators for next year with “a strong academic background and a passion to make a difference in the lives of students,” according to a statement.
At the job fairs, scheduled for Feb. 22 and March 15, the school system will be looking to hire teachers for special education, math and science positions. The administration is also seeking qualified candidates for principalships around the county. Candidates must apply online to attend the two job fairs.
Available positions include a Chinese-language instructor at Madison High, a librarian at Herndon Elementary, and a math teacher at Whitman Middle.
Chantilly High School is also looking for a boys’ tennis coach. Lee High needs a junior varsity baseball coach, and Oakton is looking for an assistant coach for the football team.
To address teacher woes, Fairfax superintendent Karen Garza said in recent months that she will include a pay raise in her proposed budget for 2015.
