Prince George's school system schedules budget forum

The Prince George’s County school system will host its first community forum to discuss the fiscal year 2015 operating budget next on Wednesday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sasscer Administration Building, 14201 School Ln., Upper Marlboro.

Officials are urging the public to offer its input.

This will be the first budget prepared by Chief Executive Officer Kevin Maxwell. He will submit his proposed budget to the board in December.

Public hearings will be held in January and February and the school board will submit its adopted budget to the county executive in March. The final budget must be approved in June.

Residents who want to speak at next week’s community forum should call 301-952-6001 by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Online comments on the budget will be accepted through Oct. 31.
