Allie, center, a 35-pound, 11-month-old female — possibly a beagle and pointer mix — is available from the Humane Society of Fairfax County. Two neutered and descented ferrets, 4-year-old Sling Shot and 2-year-old Sniffy, are available from the Fairfax City Animal Shelter.
The Fairfax County Animal Shelter, 4500 West Ox Rd., makes animals available for adoption by residents of Fairfax, Arlington, Loudoun and Prince William counties, as well as Vienna, Fairfax City, Falls Church and Alexandria. More animals can be seen at www.petharbor.com. Animal viewing and adoption hours are noon to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. The shelter is closed on holidays.
