Dog bites woman: Bowie and Thomas Drs., 1:20 p.m. March 26. A woman was bitten when she separated her dog from a black-and-white mixed breed running loose in the neighborhood. It was unclear which dog bit her, so her dog was placed under quarantine. Notices were posted to find the other dog.
Dog bites child: Saber Lane, 1000 block, 1:45 p.m. March 26. A pit bull terrier slipped out of its collar and bit a girl, who was treated at a hospital. The dog’s owner released custody of the animal, which will be tested for rabies.
Rabid raccoon: Sherwood Hall Lane, 2500 block, 5:50 p.m. March 22. A man reported that his Siberian husky was injured and that he found a dead raccoon in his back yard. The raccoon tested positive for rabies, and the dog was placed under quarantine. The dog’s owner was charged with no dog license.
Dog bites neighbor: Glencourse Lane, 2100 block, 11 a.m. March 22. A woman stopped to pet a neighbor's chow, and it bit her on the hand. The dog was placed under quarantine.
Dog bites pedestrian: Sweet Leaf Terr., 12500 block, 7 p.m. March 23. A shepherd mix being walked on a leash bit a pedestrian as he passed by. The dog was placed under quarantine.
Loose dog: Unity Lane, 9500 block, 7:50 p.m. March 23. A stray Shih Tzu was taken to the animal shelter, where its owner claimed it. A Centreville woman was charged with no dog license and no current rabies vaccination.
Rabid skunk fights with dogs: Autumn Vale Ct., 13700 block, 6:10 p.m. March 25. A homeowner found scratches on her dogs, an odor in the home and a dead skunk in the back yard. The skunk tested positive for rabies. The dogs were placed under quarantine.
Rabbits abandoned: Old Lee Hwy., 3700 block, March 24. Two domestic rabbits were left on a pink blanket in a park. They were taken to the shelter and will be placed for adoption.
Reunion: Oak St., 3900 block, March 21. A puggle was found and was returned to its owner.
Dog visits neighbor: Oak Pl., 10500 block, March 25. A man reported that a neighbor’s dog ran inside his home, frightening him and his children. A caretaker retrieved the dog.
Cat bites hospital employee: Park St. SE, 100 block, noon March 16. A cat bit an animal hospital employee attempting to perform a medical procedure. The cat was placed under quarantine at home.

Raccoons in house: Gibson Dr. SW, 500 block, 7:02 p.m. March 25. A raccoon fell through the ceiling in the family room of a house. Five baby raccoons had also fallen through the ceiling. The babies were placed at a kennel.
Raccoon euthanized: Ross Dr. SW, 1200 block, 1:10 p.m. March 27. An animal control officer, investigating a report of a sick raccoon, determined that it could not be saved.
Dog bites neighbor: Patrick St. SE, 100 block, 5:34 p.m. March 28. A man walked out of his apartment, and a neighbor’s dog bit him on the back of his leg. The man was treated at a hospital. The dog was placed under quarantine at home.
